Getting Started

In my real life I'm a scientist. Not the type of scientist that gets to play with animals, or cultivate plants. I'm the type of scientist that deals with sophisticated biological reactions of microscopic entities. Often times, my day consists of moving a drop of clear liquid from one tube to another tube of clear liquid. The end result of these experiments is always the same, praying that all these drops do their job and produce meaningful data. Let's just say, it doesn't always work out. My day job is what leads me to my favorite past time, working on projects around my house. Nothing beats holding a fresh piece of lumber in your hand. And the certainty of knowing that if I cut two pieces of trim at 45 degrees they'll match up to make a 90 degree angle. Or if I paint a bookcase with white paint, sure enough it will look white.

Of course, I am by no means a professional handyman. I sit down, think of a project then read other blogs, books, and online posts to figure out how to get the job done. It's these other sources of information that have inspired me to start this blog. The people that take the time to document how they approach and complete various projects are a tremendous asset to all us DIYers. I hope to contribute what I can to this wealth of information.

In this blog I will share my approaches to my projects, my experiences with different products, and a guarantee to share the mistakes that I will undoubtedly encounter in getting the job done. I probably don't always use the best approach so please, share with me and everyone else ways of getting the best results.
